The Florida Department of Transportation held a public hearing regarding the Tampa Interstate Study (TIS) Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS), which includes I-275 (SR 93) from the Howard Frankland Bridge to north of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (SR 574) and I-4 (SR 400) from I-275 (SR 93) to east of 50th Street (US 41) in Hillsborough County, Florida. This project involves improvements to the Westshore Area Interchange (I-275/SR 60), the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4), as well as the I-275 corridor that connects these two areas.
The Public Hearing was held on two separate dates and locations to allow for maximum participation. The format of each hearing session and the information presented were identical. The first Public Hearing Session was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough Community College (Dale Mabry Campus), Student Services Building located at 4001 w. Tampa Bay Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33614. The second Public Hearing Session was held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Port Tampa Bay Cruise Terminal #6, located at 1331 McKay Street, Tampa, FL 33602.
This hearing allowed those interested in the study an opportunity to provide comments and express views concerning the location; conceptual design; and social, economic, cultural, and environmental effects of the proposed project. The hearing covered TIS Segments 1A, 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B (also referred to as Tampa Bay Next Sections 4, 5, and 6). The FDOT held this public hearing on two separate dates and location to allow for maximum participation. The format of each hearing session and the information presented was identical.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m., FDOT representatives were available to answer questions and discuss the project. Project materials and exhibits showing the proposed improvements were available. A PowerPoint presentation ran continuously during the open house. The formal portion of the public hearing began at 6:00 p.m. and provided the opportunity for oral public comments.
A court reporter was available to receive comments in a one-on-one setting before and after the formal portion of the hearing. You may submit written comments at the hearing, mail your written comments to the address pre-printed on the back of the comment form provided at the hearing, or enter them on the project website at www.tampainterstatestudy.com on the “Send us your comments” page. All comments must be postmarked or emailed by Thursday, March 12, 2020 to become part of the official public hearing record.
